Hydrant Meter Issuance

According to Village Ordinance 50.28, a special water use permit may by requested by contractors for the purpose of obtaining a supply of water for proper, authorized use from a hydrant. The permit shall be valid for a period of not more than 30 days. The applicant must complete the special water use permit application and Public Works shall approve or deny such application within 2 working days. Please click here to complete the application. You will be required to provide the location where the meter will be used and the anticipated duration of use.

If the hydrant meter request is approved, and in accordance with Ordinance 50.28 (A)2, the Village requires a $500 deposit check payable to the Village of Romeoville. Additionally, a one-time $100 fee will be charged for water usage, along with a $50 fee for each 30-day extension of use. A water billing account will be established, and the deposit will be credited to this account.

Once work at your job site is complete, the hydrant meter must be returned to the Romeoville Public Works Department. After the meter is returned, all applicable charges will be deducted from the deposit. If there is a remaining balance, an invoice will be issued. If a credit remains, a refund will be issued.
