Responsibilities
The Building department ensures that all new construction and private improvements are in compliance with the building codes utilized by the Village of Romeoville.
The Building department ensures that all new construction and private improvements are in compliance with the building codes utilized by the Village of Romeoville.
It also coordinates building permits and on-site inspections of all remodeling, new residential, commercial, and industrial construction within the community.
Building permits and inspections are required for most home improvements or additions.
Construction Hours
Construction can only occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Easement Encroachment
No accessory structure or use except fences shall be constructed, occupied or established on any public utility, drainage, or pipeline easement, except with the written permission of all utility companies and the Village having rights to use the easement. Before building permits can be issued, letters must be received from the easement holders.
