CPR Training

Community CPR & AED Training Program

The Romeoville Fire Department offers free CPR and AED training to residents, organizations, and businesses throughout the community. The program is led by RFD-certified instructors and teaches participants how to recognize cardiac arrest, perform Hands-Only CPR, operate an automated external defibrillator (AED), and take action in the minutes before EMS arrives.

Most cardiac arrests happen at home, in front of someone who knows the victim. When a bystander begins CPR immediately, the chance of survival increases dramatically. This program exists to close that gap — putting life-saving skills in the hands of the people most likely to need them.

Training is available for several audiences, each with a session adapted to fit:

Residents & Families:

60-minute sessions held at Fire Station 3 and the Ovation Center, open to anyone in the community. No experience required. 

High School Students:

60-minute in-classroom sessions delivered in coordination with local schools, supporting the Illinois CPR instruction requirement. Every student practices on a manikin and operates an AED trainer.

Faith Communities:

45-minute sessions delivered at your facility, adapted for mixed mobility levels. Participants are provided opportunities to learn alternative ways to help event if they cannot provide compressions themselves.

Senior Communities:

45-minute sessions brought directly to senior living facilities and community centers. Large-print materials, seated practice, and a three-role approach ensure every participant leaves with a skill they are confident using.

All sessions are free. RFD provides all equipment, instruction, and materials at no cost to participants or host organizations. Certificates of completion are provided.
