Transfer Stamps

To obtain a transfer stamp the following conditions must be met:

  • The property must be clear of all debts to the Village, including the most current water bill (the final water bill will be mailed to a forwarding address provided after closing). To obtain a clearance letter, click  here. At that point, the clearance letter process will begin and a final water reading will be ordered. Clearance letters are valid for five (5) business days.
  • A final meter reading is not required for an exempt transaction if the water account is in good standing and the name on the account will remain the same.

Stamping Deeds

Upon completion of the online Clearance Letter and Transfer Stamp Process:

1.Be prepared to pay the tax ($3.50 per $1,000 of the full consideration price for nonexempt transactions or a $40 processing fee for exempt transactions).

2.Pay the tax online via Credit Card or E-Check, or pay in person with Cash, Check, Money Order, Credit Card, or E-Check. If you are paying in person, please have your TRF-25-#### record number available.
