The Village of Romeoville is already home to 41 parks and work is progressing on number 42. Ward Park will be located just to the southeast of Weber Road and 135th Street, on the south end of the Monarch Grove Senior Housing and Apartment project. The previously announced park site will be roughly 9 acres split between two areas. Phase I (4 acres) will include community gardens, parking, a shelter, trails, native plantings, structures utilizing reclaimed barn wood, and interpretive signage. In addition to the final plan being approved, the Village gave the go ahead to apply for an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. It will be used to help fund the development of the area. 

Additionally, at Romeo Crossing Park, plans were approved for a path extension (0.72 mile) that will connect the east side of the parking lot to the north end of the pavilion by the ADA field. It will loop out and around the pond, essentially marking the outer boundaries of the park. 

Another site receiving path work is the Romeoville Campus of Joliet Junior College. A new sidewalk will be constructed along the eastern side of the east driveway that leads to the campus. These lots are used for overflow parking during some of Romeoville’s bigger community events, so the sidewalk will create a safer way for visitors to enter and exit the lot on foot. A new crosswalk on 135th Street will also be part of this project for those who park in the lot to safely cross the road to join in the fun!

What could be more fun than a playground? Approval was granted for the purchase of the new playground equipment to be installed at Wesglen Park. It’s part of the larger joint renovation of the site with the Lockport Township Park District. 

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve the outdoor amenities we offer our residents,” said Mayor John Noak. “Whether it be parks for fun or paths for enjoying the outdoors, our team is very proactive.”

All motorized vehicles and bikes are treated as vehicles under Illinois Vehicle Code and Village codes. This includes stopping at traffic signs and yielding the right of way.

The Village of Romeoville is committed to education and encourages responsible electric bike and scooter use to protect all road users. Please review the e-bikes rules of the road for safety.

Building permits are required for most home improvements so that the building inspectors may inspect for safety, zoning, compliance etc.

The Romeoville Police Department offers a vacation check service for Village residents. When a resident goes away on vacation, a police officer can check their home up to three times per day to make sure it remains secure. A request form must be completed, signed and returned to the Police Department prior to departure. You may pick up the request form at the Police Department, 1050 W. Romeo Rd. Local cookbook author and food blogger Heifa Odeh of Fufu’s Kitchen shares recipes and stories centered around traditional Arab cuisine. You don’t have to be a professional chef or spend hours in the kitchen to enjoy the amazing flavors of West Asia. She will show you how quick and easy it is to make your favorite dishes at home. Heifa is the author of the cookbook "Dine in Palestine: An Authentic Taste of Palestine in 60 Recipes from My Family to Your Table."

It is a collection of 60 recipes from Chef Heifa's family to your table.

This library program has been made possible through a partnership between the White Oak Library District and the Village of Romeoville.

The Village of Romeoville has a few online registries that may apply to you or a loved one. 

The Senior/Special Needs Registry is designed for residents who are seniors or have special medical needs (important medications, medical devices, or other requirements). The form will be submitted to the police and fire departments so that emergency responders will know ahead of time about any special circumstances they may encounter when responding to a call at your home. 

The Veterans Registry will notify veterans in town of special programs and opportunities available for those who have served our country in the armed services. 

The No Solicitor Registry is aimed at preventing solicitors from visiting your residence. When solicitors register for a permit, they will receive a copy of addresses they are not to visit. Yours will be among them.
