Meet Our Instructors
Georgina started her journey 33 years ago by taking a step aerobics class and falling in love with fitness. Within those years, she has trained and been certified in a variety of specialties including group ex, strength, and endurance training, Piyo, personal training and of course… Aquatic Fitness. After subbing in for an aquatic aerobics class, Georgina found her true passion and immediately sought out and completed an ACE certification. Even while working in her full-time career as an insurance agent, she always found time to teach. Her mindset is always geared towards having fun while working out. Georgina has been on board with the Romeoville Aquatic Center since day one and have an array of classes. Her offerings range from low impact to high intensity, offering something for anyone and everyone. Her fitness philosophy is that exercise should be regarded as a tribute to the mind, body and soul. Georgina is the proud mother of her son, William Joseph, who started this fitness journey right by her side. As just a toddler, he would accompany her to classes, always being her biggest supporter.
Roxanne is a six-year Romeoville resident, and she comes to our team in an unusual way! Last year, after signing up for a family membership during the opening of the Aquatic Center, she visited an aqua fitness class to help with her knee surgeries from a few years prior and to get better control of her Type 2 diabetes. After being warmly welcomed to class by the instructor, Georgina, she completed it and felt good afterward! She attended a few more and became an enthusiastic and dedicated student inspired by watching Georgina lead the classes. Roxanne asked her about becoming an instructor, and she took her under her wing, gave guidance and opportunities to learn while attending classes over 3X/week for the past year. During this time, aqua aerobics has helped her to lose 35 pounds, gain more mobility and strength in both knees, and lowered her diabetic A1C number from 10.5 to 7 (still a work in progress)! Roxanne researched options for certification and discovered the Aquatic Exercise Association, a premier training association in the industry for aquatic group fitness and is in the process of becoming an AEA-certified instructor. She has been married to her husband, Ray (also an Aquatic Center member and super supporter!) for 47 years, has four children, nine grandchildren and loves to garden while listening to the timeless music of the 70s and 80s.
