Get ready for a glowing good time the whole family will love! When the lights go down, the Romeoville Aquatic Center lights up with music, glowing fun, and splash-tastic excitement for all ages.

The Village Board has approved the purchase of a prefabricated concession stand/public restroom building to be installed as part of the Village Park renovation.

The layout selected will contain four gender neutral ADA accessible restrooms, a concession stand, mechanical room, sprinkler system, and small storage area. 

Located between the Recreation Center and Village Hall campus, these restrooms are heavily utilized, especially with their proximity to nearby tennis courts, playground, Dale Blum field, and five ballfields. The new structure will replace the aging facility that was built in 1984.

“Our Parks and Recreation team do an amazing job maintaining our facilities, but it’s time to give this site an update,” said Mayor Noak. “This new multipurpose building will enhance the experience for countless families coming to the park for years to come.”

The Village Board has approved a plan from Clover Development to build a three-story, 122-unit, market-rate, active adult (55+) community, located at the southwest corner of the intersection at Weber and Airport roads next to Scene75. It is designed as an alternative for senior residents who no longer desire to own and do not wish to move into a full-service retirement community. 

“Having a diverse selection of housing for our senior community continues to be in demand,” said Mayor Noak. “This location conveniently puts residents near existing retail, restaurants, and entertainment.”

The project is a single building with interior corridors. Clover is proposing (85) 2 bedroom/1 bathroom, (24) 2 bedroom/1.5 bathroom, (9) 2 bedroom/1 bath extended, and (4) 1 bedroom/1-bathroom units. Unit amenities include but are not limited to, stainless steel appliances including refrigerator, microwave, range and dishwasher. Emergency pull cords will be placed in each unit. Each unit will have either a private balcony or private patio. The project will include 145 parking spaces, including 105 surface spaces and 40 garages in accessory buildings along the site perimeter. 

Amenities for residents will include an exercise facility, community room with library on the 1st floor, and outdoor gathering spaces. 

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2027.

A ribbon cutting was held today at 1135 Arbor Drive for G&W Electric. They create electrical equipment and specialize in power grid and electrical solutions for the utility industry and commercial customers. They have expanded into Romeoville and are set up in a 291,000 square foot space with 350 employees. The added space will increase production capacity, improve operational flow, and support growing customer demand for technologies that strengthen reliability, resiliency and power quality across modern grid systems. They are looking to hire another 50-60 employees, bringing their total Romeoville facility to over 400! Mums are a hardy perennial plant best planted in the spring but sold in the autumn as they are in full bloom and beautiful with autumn jewel-hued colors to decorate your porch, yard or house!

The Public Works Department has completed the storm cleanup throughout town from the August 11th Storm Event.  

There will be no additional chipper service requests for storm cleanup.  All private property tree and landscape debris will need to be disposed of through Waste Management.  If utilizing Waste Management, brush and branches must be cut into 4 foot lengths and bundled with string or twine.  Each bundle must not exceed 50 lbs.  Unbundled brush will not be collected.  Smaller limbs or branches can also be placed in biodegradable yard waste bags.  Whole trees or limbs greater than 4 inches in diameter, along with mulch, stumps and dirt are not allowed in the weekly collection through Waste Management.  

135th Street, east of Route 53, will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Monday, August 24 for bridge maintenance work. The lane reduction is anticipated to last four weeks.

Garbage pick-up will be on your regular scheduled day with unlimited pick-up of large items. All normal pick up regulations apply. Hazardous waste is handled by Waste Management’s at Your Door program.

Since 2019, the Romeoville Veteran & Service Member Banner Program has recognized the accomplishments of the men and women of the six branches of the armed forces. 

Orders are now being accepted for the 2027 Veteran & Service Member Banner Program. The program is a way to remember, honor, or thank a veteran in your life with a 24” x 62” double-sided vinyl banner that will be displayed on the light poles in the community. 

Two locations are now available: 

•  Village Hall grounds - banners will hang from May-Nov. for $50 and $25 for renewal banners.

•  Montrose Dr. - banners will hang from May-April for $100 and $50 for renewal banners.

First time applicants will get precedence in the program. Part of the proceeds of this program will go towards the Veterans Commission scholarship fund as well as paying for veterans’ assistance programs. To qualify for the program, the veteran must be a current resident of Romeoville or, if deceased, had previously lived in Romeoville.

The Village of Romeoville has a few online registries that may apply to you or a loved one. 

The Senior/Special Needs Registry is designed for residents who are seniors or have special medical needs (important medications, medical devices, or other requirements). The form will be submitted to the police and fire departments so that emergency responders will know ahead of time about any special circumstances they may encounter when responding to a call at your home. 

The Veterans Registry will notify veterans in town of special programs and opportunities available for those who have served our country in the armed services. 

The No Solicitor Registry is aimed at preventing solicitors from visiting your residence. When solicitors register for a permit, they will receive a copy of addresses they are not to visit. Yours will be among them.
