Blue Star Flag Program
The Veterans Commission has implemented a Blue Star Flag Program for Romeoville families who have immediate family members on active duty. A Blue Star Service Flag or Banner displayed in the window of a home lets others know that someone in the home is proudly serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The flag should be displayed in a window of the residence of persons authorized. Authorized family members include the wife, husband, mother, father, stepmother or stepfather, parent through adoption, foster parents who stand or stood loco parentis, children, stepchildren, children through adoption, brothers, sisters and half brothers or sisters of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States.
Blue Star Flags will be distributed to families at the first board meeting of every month. If you have an immediate family member on active duty in the military, please call the Recreation Department (815-886-6222) by the 21st of each month to be put on the list to receive a blue flag at the following month’s meeting.
