FACILITY OPENING

In 2014, the Romeoville Athletic & Event Center was opened. This immediately added to the success of Uptown Square by drawing regional attention with an estimated 400,000 visitors annually. 

The center continues to attract community events, this year we look forward to the Kiwanis Art Fair, Romeoville’s Winter Wonderland and Tree Lighting Ceremony, and special events by the Chamber of Commerce.

Previous events held at the center include:
  • National Basketball Tournaments with visits by top coaches including Tom Izzo, Michigan State; Bo Ryan, University of Wisconsin and Dana Altman, University of Oregon
  • Other major basketball tournaments with an attendance of 30,000
  • Soccer Programs with 38,000 in attendance
  • Baseball development programs with 90,000 in attendance
  • 25,000 in attendance for Volleyball Travel & Development Programs

Designed by Dewberry Architects,the 76,000 square foot sports complex meets the demands of many local athletes as well as community groups by offering  indoor soccer, 8 basketball courts, community meeting rooms, and multipurpose space to accommodate special events and expos. The site has also been designed to accommodate outdoor special events, such as festivals and outdoor markets. The Center offers:

A first floor of 52,578 square feet:

  • 2 mu ltipurpose rooms w/40 person occupancy per room
  • Indoor Soccer Field w/m ain field of 160’ x 200’ or two cross fields; 2  Goal Storage;  General Storage;  Fire Pump Room;  Electrical Room
  • Full size Baseball / Softball infields 45, 60 and 90 ft. bases; Full Field Batting
  • Two Full Size High School Basketball Courts; 4 Junior High Courts; 12 Fully Adjustable Baskets; Large Spectator Area
  • Football Field size of 60 yards wide by 75 yards long
  • 4 Full Size Competition Volleyball Courts
  • Golf Driving Range available November through April
  • Lacrosse field rentals for games and scrimmages; hourly rentals for team and club practice; open gym sessions
  • (2) IHSA regulation basketball courts 50’ x 84’ or (4) cross-courts or (4) IHSA regulation volleyball courts 30’ x 60’ with 22’ clear height
  • Moveable spectator seating for 110
