Dispatch
The Romeoville Fire Department is part of the Will County 9-1-1 emergency communications system. When a resident or visitor dials 9-1-1 in Romeoville, the call is answered by highly trained emergency telecommunicators at the Laraway Communications Center, commonly referred to as LCC. LCC serves as the regional Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and is responsible for coordinating police, fire, and emergency medical dispatch services for multiple communities throughout Will County.
The Laraway Communications Center was established in 2018 as part of the statewide Illinois 9-1-1 dispatch center consolidation initiative created under Illinois Public Act 99-0006. The consolidation improved interoperability, enhanced emergency communications capabilities, and increased coordination between participating agencies throughout the region.
From the moment a 9-1-1 call is received, dispatchers work closely with Romeoville Fire Department personnel to quickly gather critical information, provide emergency instructions when needed, and dispatch the appropriate fire, EMS, or rescue resources to the scene. This partnership helps ensure rapid, efficient, and coordinated emergency response services for the residents and businesses of Romeoville.
